Rules For Qualification

Checked automatically when you submit.

  • $10,000 minimum portfolio value. The strategy must be built and tested on a portfolio of at least $10,000.
  • 7-year minimum backtest. Long enough to cover a full market cycle. Shorter tests cannot be judged fairly.
  • 10 stocks minimum. A concentrated bet is not a strategy, so 10 or more must be in the construction.
  • Maximum three entries per category. You can run up to three strategies in any one category.
  • Return with currency impact. Every result is judged on the return in rupees, so the currency move counts.
  • Backtested against S&P 500. Every entry is judged on the same benchmark, so results compare like for like.

Backtested performance is hypothetical and based on historical data. Actual future results may differ from the results calculated here. Past performance is no indicator of future returns. Nothing in this series is a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
